There were sport model 2 and 4 doors, but in the USA e36 range 'is' denotes 2door. In all other model ranges (e30, etc) the 'is' means sport. In europe is means sport, as there were both 318/325/328i coupes and sedans with sports models being denoted with 's'.

However, no matter how good the engine maker is, 300k is a lot of KM's. Both the 325i and 328i are amazing bits of kit. the 2.8 engine has around 192bhp as standard and a lot more torque than the 2.5. The 2.8 is also easier to get power out of as it is resticted at the factory to stay within German insurance bands.

They all bolt straight on bar the 330i rear brakes. You need to use the 330i trailing arms. I am running 330i fronts with 328i rears on my e36.
