And before the “LeAvE GEorgE ALonE!” Brigade chimes in- no. There is an implied agreement between an author and their readers when starting a series, that it will be finished. The money spent on the books is immaterial to me. That helped fund Martin’s “I no longer feel compelled to give a shit” attitude, but that’s another conversation.
If I were to recommend someone books to read to scratch the itch left by no ASOIAF this is where I'd start: The Kingkiller Chronicle - Patrick Rothfuss. The Malazan Book of the Fallen - Steven Erikson. The Night Angel Trilogy - Brent Weeks. Mistborn - Brandon Sanderson.
George R. R. Martin confirms he’s 3/4 done with ‘Winds of Winter’. With all the craziness in the world, I feel like him finishing this book will trigger the final seal of the apocalypse or something. I mean, I could easily interpret the last 3 years as the first 5 seals.

This article is pure garbage. A clickbait. Grrm completed nearly 1000 pages of a draft on Winds back in 2015. But he didn't like it and gone back to rewrite. He stuck with that for years. Winds is the toughest book to write because of so many plot threads like the iron-born, FAegon, and the Mereenese Knot, which is a big puzzle for him to solve.
March 9 2022 - "Random Updates and Bits o' News": George talks about how he's working on a lot of projects and how they all matter to him. Says he is still working on Winds. Made a "lot" of progress in 2020 and "less" in 2021, but "less is not none". Westeros has also become bigger than Winds at this point.
